The Graduate School of Resources Management and Decision Science, formerly known as the Institute of Resources Management, was founded in July 1982. As the first graduate program in the education system of modern military management, it aims to nourish high-ranking officers and teachers for resource integration and decision making. In the past 27 years, the Institute has not only recruited faculties and researchers with rich experience in national defense resource management, but also nurtured many high-ranking talents and teachers whose outstanding research accomplishments contribute greatly to such fields.

In order to improve the theories and practices of national defense management, our curriculum was initially divided into five tracks: Human Resource, Finance, Materiel, Information and Decision.

During the year of 1996, in order to specialize each aspect within the development of national defense management, the Information track became an independent graduate program-- the Graduate Institute of National Defense Information Management with the objective to nurture information management professionals. In 1998, the Decision track was separated and formed the Graduate Institute of National Defense Decision Science with the objective to train future talents in decision making, leadership and think tank, as well as to raise the quality of their decision. In 1999, the Materiel track was reestablished as the Graduate Institute of National Defense Logistics Management with the objective to nurture management talents in the field of weapon acquisition and logistics management. In 2000, the Finance track was reestablished as the Graduate Institute of Financial Resource Management with the objective to take up the responsibility for training high-ranking officers in the fields of accounting, finance and policymaking. After each track successively became an independent graduate institute, the original graduate program established two more tracks—Management Science and General Management—in addition to the initial Human Resource Management track (considering the military necessity and the disciplines of other graduate programs.)

In 2004, our graduate institute combined the two tracks— General Management and Technology Law, establishing the Technology Management track to prepare the technology-oriented army building in the 21st century.

In 2006, to meet the needs of national defense reorganization, our institute was merged with the Graduate Institute of National Defense Decision Science and thereby formed the Graduate school of Resources Management and Decision Science. Meanwhile, all related curriculums were also merged accordingly. Currently, the curriculum composes of Human Planning, Decision Science and Resources Management.
